For more puzzle game reviews, news and everything puzzle-related, follow Puzzle Lovers and check out our Steam group.a clever little puzzler where you have to outsmart the ai on 96 levels by blocking its way to the squares on a hex grid. it's turn-based, presented in a minimalistic grayscale fashion, without volume sliders or properly working on\/off buttons (they reset when you restart the game), but with new mechanics introduced on a regular basis. sometimes the ai and\/or you can move twice, you can freeze or distract the ai, and so on.most of the levels aren't too difficult, but can still be satisfying to solve, and there are a few really tricky ones. there's only one available to play at any given time, which is not ideal when you get hopelessly stuck, having 2 or 3 unsolved levels playable would've been better. the ai is stupid enough to only go for the shortest path to its goal, but I still had trouble on a few levels because I'm not too smart either. if you don't care about achievements, you can get extra moves to make your life easier.unlimited undo was patched in after release, without which I probably wouldn't have enjoyed it as much. not that I'm a fan of trial & error gameplay, but I appreciate it when a game lets me experiment and doesn't waste my time by resetting the level (which can be done manually at any time) or dropping me back to level select when I fail. I could simply undo my steps and try again.the biggest complaint I have is about the controls. once you select a 'powerup', you can't deselect or put it back, have to undo the last step of picking it up, but that also takes your last proper move back. it only breaks the level occasionally, but it's annoying most of the time. reset doesn't always reset everything properly either, and steam popups should be displayed in the top right corner because controls are on the bottom right. still, it's a fun game, worth picking up.. In short: This is a smart turn-based puzzle game with various interesting mechanics. While I do have a few gripes with the implementation, the core gameplay is rock solid and the pricing adeqate.In long: Each level takes place on a hex-based grid where 1 or more triangles will bee-line for targets. Your job is to protect these targets by use of various clever and interesting mechanics: At the start of the game you can only flip tiles to create walls. Separating triangles and targets is the win-condition, but soon your arsenal expands with new toys: Double walls, freezes, decoys, etc. Soon you'll also have to deal with unflippable tiles and double-moving triangles. There is a lot of variety and depth and I never found myself getting bored.There is a substantial amount of strategy in trying to herd the triangles. But make no mistake - at its heart this is a puzzle game. Almost all levels have but a single working solution. If there is a difference in path length, enemies act very predictable. If two potential targets are the same distance away, enemies will always take the path worse for the player or decide randomly between them. Only on the very last level did I encounter randomness that actually changed the outcome. I wasn't a huge fan of the teleporter tiles introduced towards the end of the game, as they made enemy movement more confusing. Everything else though was enjoyable.There are 96 levels. Each new mechanic is properly tutorialized, but in general difficulty goes up steadily in a gentle curve. Even so, you will use the undo-button a lot as the levels are quite cleverly\/fiendishly designed. It took me about 2.5 hours to beat every level and I might replay them in a few years. Unfortunately a full-clear nets only about 630 flipped tiles, while a poorly thought-out achievement requires 1,000, which adds another 30 minutes of mindless grind. Levels are only unlocked one after the other, but you can access bonus abilities on each level (like extra freezes for instance) to prevent you from getting stuck (I never used them though).I would describe the presentation as functional. The graphics are nothing to write home about, but they are functional and have a certain minimalist appeal. The sound effects are good, but I was not a fan of the "music", which I would describe as ambient noise.The technical implementation is sufficient. We're looking at a built-in windowed mode (albeit with a fixed resolution\/size) and the ability to turn off sound effects and music separately. There are no volume sliders. The game seems to be a halfway decent mobile port. Esc for backing out and R for resetting levels are bound as sensible hotkeys The much more frequently used undo and all your abilities can apparently not be accessed via keyboard though, which adds a few annoying button clicks. If you select the wrong ability by accident, you can also not unselect it, short of using the undo button to go back a step. Speaking of the undo mechanic: On later levels, when undoing stuff quite often, sometimes effects will remain, forcing you to reset the whole level (the only bug I encountered). The achivement triggers are also a bit strange, firing only when you go back to the main menu.In conclusion I quite enjoyed this game, even though implementation and presentation could take a few minor fixes here and a little polish there. Thankfully the core gameplay remains solid and interesting\/challenging. The price is adequate for the amount of content and replayability; great even if you buy on sale.. Simple. Clever. Addictive.Haven't played too long so far, but I really enjoyed every second of it.A rare combination of intense mental exercise, simplicity and fun.. This is a good set of minimalist puzzles, and is surprisingly fun for such a simple concept. The difficulty level seems right, and the levels are vaired enough to stay interesting. I agree with others who've requested a dark mode or at least some background colors besides white.. A fun 2-D puzzle game that's easy to learn and ramps up the difficulty as you go on.96 levels with more than a few challenging ones to complete. Great time-filler for a casual puzzle game.. This is a fun puzzle game. I found the description confusing but tried it anyway, and it was a good thing I did. The idea is that there are triangles that you must prevent from reaching the target squares. You can block one hex cell per turn, while the triangle will try alternative routes to reach the target until you completely wall off the triangles from all target squares. New elements are gradually added, including special abilities that you have limited uses of, such as the ability to block a hex cell without advancing the turn, and the ability to lay a distraction for the triangles.The game became a lot more fun and made more sense when I found out that the abilities on the left side of your screen are meant to be helpers and aren't supposed to be used to 'fully complete' each level. Instead, try to complete each level using only the abilities on the right side unless you get stuck.I don't care a great deal about achievements but for a short puzzle game with no randomly generated puzzles with which to keep completing after the main game, I was surprised that there was an achievement that required some grinding to complete (reaching 1000 hexagons turned). I'd recommend the developer to make that 500 required so that people are more likely to have completed it before the entire game.. Starts as a relaxing puzzler and quickly ramps up into a legit pure tactics game.
